Is Madonna a Prostitute? Malawi Cousin of Banda asks

In the village of Chimala in Malawi, almost everybody knows Madonna. Chimala is the place where Malita; David Banda's late biological mother came from. A cousin of David Banda who has access to the internet and reads the whereabouts of Madonna has repeatedly asked his relatives: "Was it really a good idea to give to this woman our son? Isn't she (Madonna) a prostitute?" The concerns came after seeing the provocative images of Madonna's latest photo shoot of her album cover showing her wrapped and strapped in bandages. David's cousin who accepted to talk on condition of anonymity said that he was saddened when he read about "Madonna's adventures with baseball star Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod), model Jesus Luz and British film director Guy Ritchie while leaving David Banda, my cousin at home"
In Malawi, women are labeled as prostitutes when they wear revealing, tight or simply suggestive clothes as it is translated as advertising their bodies for sexual favors. Also in Malawi, having more than one "boyfriend" or partner is a sign of prostitution. This could apply to men or women.
David Banda's cousin who is currently in his last year of high school; believes that Madonna should do what is best for her "son" which according to him is to "return him to my uncle(Yohane Banda) with financial assistance in order for him to grow up in his own culture and speak Chichewa and not English"
Though not every Malawians agree with him, David Banda's cousin believes that if he saw a woman in Malawi, dressed up like Madonna and doing the things that she does; he will conclude that she is a prostitute because that is how sex workers are in Malawi. When asked if his views were not blinded by ignorance; he responded: "Malawians have lived for centuries by themselves, we should not be forced to see things the way the West sees them. If according to their culture what Madonna does is not prostitution, then that is their own business. But according to Malawian standards Madonna is a prostitute"

This guy needs to use google or wikipedia and search for the word "adoption". When someone wants to "adopt" it doesn't mean they want to "sponsor" like World Vision or Save the Children. In as much as I don't condone Madonna's moral behaviour but I don't think people in this guy's village are so faithful to their partners and don't divorce.

I agree with the above comment. It's easy to judge....David Banda is far better off where he is.

Also - I doubt these statements are anonymous. If Madonna put minimal effort in, she would be able to find David's cousin who is in his final year of high school.

i agree adoption is adoption so lets not look backwards at davids case.
but we do have a right to speak about the future, and whether a divorced madonna should be allowed to flout national adoption laws for a second time?

The charity (PR firm) 'Raising Malawi' founded by Madonna AND TWO OTHERS three years ago held fund raisers for over two years before finally getting registered as a non-profit. In other words, Madonna and the others were free to squander the lion's share of that funding any way they saw fit for those first two years. She also pleaded with her fans worldwide for donations along the way. In the meantime, she toured the world to promote her latest CD and raked in another $280,000,000 in just over 12 months. To date, the basic financial info for 'Rasing Malawi' still hasn't been posted on the website or anywhere else. The 'progress' page only tells of the collective works by over 20 seperate charities. Each of which have their own sources of funding and may have recieved some sort of promotion or support from 'Raising Malawi' in order to be considered 'partners'. But no indication is made how much of their funding came from 'Raising Malawi' or how much of their progress if any could be directly attributed to 'Raising Malawi'. The fans/donors have no clue how many millions of dollars were raised in that first two years, no clue how much Madonna herself chipped in, and no clue how the money was spent before they finally registered as a non-profit. No clue what tiny little fraction of funding or works listed on that 'progress' page could be directly attributed to 'Raising Malawi'. Nothing to go on but the vague word of Madonna. But I can tell you this: I called their office in an attempt to verify some sort of efficient financial operation (310) 867-2881 or (888) 72-DONOR). I got nothing but recorded messages and hangups. So I did some research on my own. 'Rasing Malawi' still hasn't been given any kind of rating by ANY independent charity watchdog like Charitywatch.org. The vast overwhelming majority of 'celebrity' foundations never are. In general, they are inneficient and riddled with corruption. Like the promotion of CDs, world tours, commercial websites, entire lines of jewelry (not just the single piece from which proceeds are donated), and high end fashion retail flagship stores. Celebrity foundations are also notorious for squandering much of their funding on travel and super high end accomodations for their celebrity figure heads. Its legal but not noble or efficient by any stretch of the imagination. In general, 'celebrity' foundations are a twisted inefficient mutant of charity and PR crap. So if its not rated, then don't support it. Instead, support a top rated charity like those given high ratings at Charitywatch.org.

In other words, Madonna and the others were free to squander the lion's share of that funding any way they saw fit for those first two years. In fact, they still havn't accounted for the 3.7 million raised from a single event in the fall of '07' (The opening of a Gucci flagship store in Manhattan.). She also pleaded with her fans worldwide for donations along the way. In the meantime, she toured the world to promote her latest CD and raked in another $280,000,000 gross in just over 12 months. To date, the basic financial info for 'Rasing Malawi' still hasn't been posted on the website or anywhere else. The 'progress' page only tells of the collective works by over 20 seperate charities. No clue what fraction of funding or works listed on that 'progress' page could be directly attributed to 'Raising Malawi'. Nothing to go on but the vague word of Madonna. The vague and very misleading word of Madonna. For example: She states in her latest promotional video that she will match any contributions made to her charity (PR firm) "dollar for dollar". However, there is a disclaimer posted on the website for 'Raising Malawi' that Madonna's total contribution will not exceed $100,000. Thats not per donation. Thats a maximum of $100,000 TOTAL. Less than a single days pay for Madonna. Also much less then she will surely rake in by promoting her own CDs, DVDs, and 'for profit' merchandise through this massive worldwide publicity stunt. So I called the office of 'Raising Malawi' in an attempt to verify some sort of efficient financial operation (310) 867-2881 or (888) 72-DONOR). These details are ALWAYS made available by legitimate charities to their potential donors. But not in this case. I got nothing but recorded messages and hangups. So I did some research on my own. Its legal even for a nonprofit but not noble or efficient by any stretch of the imagination. In general, 'celebrity' foundations are a twisted inefficient mutant of charity, self-promotion, exotic travel, and PR crap. Still, they compete for funding with more efficient legitimate charities who do more work with less money. The celebrity figure heads often disregard the primary donors, co-founders, and managers, take personal credit for any collective work done, and seek maximum publicity shortly before or after the release of their own commercial projects. Its a sham. So if its not rated, then don't support it. Instead, support a top rated charity like any of those given high ratings at Charitywatch.org.

The charity 'Raising Malawi' (PR firm) founded by Madonna, Michael Berg, and Monica Berg in '06', held fund raisers for over two years before finally getting registered as a non-profit. In other words, Madonna and the others were free to squander that funding any way they saw fit for those first two years. In fact, they still havn't accounted for the 3.7 million raised from a single event in early '08' (The grand opening of a Gucci flagship store in Manhattan.). She also pleaded with her fans worldwide for donations along the way. In the meantime, she toured the world to promote her latest CD and raked in another $400,000,000 gross in just over 12 months. To date, the basic financial info for 'Raising Malawi' still hasn't been posted on the website or anywhere else. The 'progress' page only tells of the collective works by over 20 seperate charities. Its far less expensive to promote your image and product with a contribution to your own charity (PR firm) than it is to buy commercial airtime worldwide. This is why its become such a trend. Hahahahaha.........Education is needed here....Regardless even if Madonna was a prostitute (hypothetically), the kids are still better off.....Malawian culture is reserved, therefore if a woman wears a mini skirt she's a prostitute. Madonna is a multi millionaire musician she made it by been different which in Europe means sometimes you have to be the naughtiest and she was.....but she's made it....how much investment has she put and will continue to put into Malawi?? There's far more positives here than negatives....good to the 2 kids.....Stop being Jealous and support your own...
